Welcome to the Frankenstein Meme Site

Our site provides a searchable database of novels, plays and stories influenced by Mary Shelley’s groundbreaking novel Frankenstein (1818) over the past two hundred years. From picture books, short stories, to film adaptations, visitors will find themselves immersed into the different ways writers and artists alike have fallen into the charms of Mary Shelley’s creature or explored its many themes in their own work. The database links to the various types of fiction and films available from 1818 to 2018 as well as includes individual critical articles of these works for further research with additional information.

Use the directory provided on our webpage to check out archives discussing the project and find information on our Frankenstein Meme exhibit, as well as paper sessions and documentation. The webpage also offers interviews with writers, digital mapping, scholarly papers by our California State University, Fullerton graduate students (and one undergraduate!) on issues raised by the database, and more.
